Ahoy there, you scurvy old sea dogs and hardworking landlubbers!
Up!’s latest venture is a twice-monthly community singing group in the north-east with a focus on shanties and working songs that everyone can join in with. You don’t have to be an expert singer, it’s all about having fun together in a friendly, welcoming environment.
You can join in the choruses, or you can just sit with us and enjoy the night.
As with all of Up!’s ventures, the emphasis is on bringing people together. In fact the whole shebang came out of a discussion with the lovely Rob Wylie, part of our Up! community, who thought a bit of communal singing would be just the thing to banish the post-Covid blues – and how right he was!
We provide you with all the song lyrics, all you need to do is turn up prepared for a great time!
